Where was I?
New(ish) Job: Well, it's been about 3 months now. Things are going along alright I guess. I knew it would be a difficult transition but I think it had to be done. My old position had lots of freedom and responsibility but nowhere to move. I could have stayed until I retired but doing the same thing for 30-40 years isn't my cup of tea. The new position is not a step down in pay or official rank but I'm now the new guy in an established team. A bit of an adjustment to say the least. The building was a huge downgrade too. My old office was on the second floor near the front of the hospital. Easy to get to and close to the cafeteria. The cafeteria was surprisingly good, too. But now I'm off campus in a really old building. I'm on the second floor and when anyone walks by who weights more than about 150lbs the floor moves. It freakin' bounces. I'm just waiting to suddenly be in the lap of some poor person on the first floor. And while there are some cuties down there I don't think either of us would appreciate that. To be continued. How does this work again?
I've decided I need to start writing again. We will see how long this lasts, won't we journal? About two months ago I started in a new position at work. I'm back to being an official member of an IS department, but they call it the IR department for some dumbass reason. I already miss my old job as it was just getting exciting. Many of the long term projects I designed and implemented are taking hold. The new cath logging system I built has greatly improved the accuracy of our statistical data. A massive upgrade to the echo system that I pushed for for over a year is just about in place. I managed to interface them all together and with the central data repository in the hospital. It was a lot of fun, so why did I move on again? Oh yeah, no growth potential. Sure I could keep doing the same things until I retire but my brain doesn't work that way. Ugh. On top of that my director got promoted and there was a good chance that an administrator who I don't like working with would have taken her place. It turns out the administrator didn't get that job but it wasn't worth taking chances. So I moved from a medium fish in a stagnant pond to a smallish fish in a sea. I'll bitch about the new job in a follow up. (Hopefully that will motivate me to write a follow up....) More things I need to follow up on: New House New Job Holliday stuff Family business Friends stuff Computer changes LJ education Current Mood: melancholyCurrent Music: The white noise of my computer fans |

Some day I'll learn to update in full mode before I start typing
My house is going up uber-fast now. The first floor is framed and the second one is half done. It may be under roof by next week. I plan on running lots of conduit to all the rooms of the house. My builder doesn't mind me doing this myself too much because they don't offer it. Hopefully I can get a friend or two to help out. Random thought: My favorite 'famous last words' are "Hold my beer and watch this!" I'm not sure what crazyness will happen at the game tonight. Mike may be back to run his game but I'd rather he not. Jim may start up a new game instead but we shall see. I want these miniatures! Current Mood: anxious |

Truly brutal game last night. We needed to rest and heal after every combat. Methinks this adventure is a little above our current levels. I was also shocked to learn that no one else had looked at the LOTR trailer! But being the ubergeek I am I burned it to CD and brought it with me. :) Note to self: must find official ruling on magic circle spell. I've really gotten into Red vs. Blue lately. Quite funny! I've now downloaded all the episodes. Scotto, if you're reading this be sure to view episode 2. It has a reference to one of your favorite mythical goat eating creatures. Current Mood: tired |

hotdawg?!
I had two hot dogs last night for dinner. They were slathered in Tony Pacos sauce. MMMmmm... And now, the progression of meat: What remains after steak and such becomes hamburger. What remains after hamburger becomes balogna. What remains after bologna becomes hot dogs. What remains after hot dogs becomes spam. Current Mood: artistic |

These Dreams?
Sunday and Monday I had those crazy "I'm not sure if I'm awake or still dreaming" type dreams. Oddly enough they both had be believing that I had overslept but when I woke up for real I was actually up early. Strange. Talked to my lighting guy last night. I need to find out if my builder can supply electrical blueprints. Regardless framing should start soon. This could come in handy at the next company function. Trouser Semaphore. :) Current Mood: artistic |

Where the hell have I been?
I'm just trying to get back into the habit of updating my journal. I feel bad when I don't update. Then a day or two goes by and I don't have enough time to fit it all in so I don't post again... (Rinse, repeat. Wipe hands on pants.) Very ironic and not the Alanis Morissette kind of irony. Mine actually fits the definition. So here's to stalled attempts at getting this thing going. Oh give me a hole
After today I'll be the proud owner of a big hole! They start digging my new house this afternoon. Spiffy! Say, anyone know a good earth blessing? We're about to take a chunk out of mother earth and I wouldn't want to piss her off because, well, she's a lot bigger than I am. ;) School started this week and this is Ishling's first time walking to school. Bus service is no longer provided if you're within a mile of the school. There are lots of other kids walking from our neighborhood so I'm not too worried about her safety. She's been showing some good responsibility lately as well by getting up a little early and feeding the pooches. Speaking of pooches one of my neighbors asked if they could come over sometime and meet our dogs. That's right, everyone wants to know our dogs more than us. Oh well, what can you do? :) I believe they want to get a dog like ours and want to see what they are like (*best pets ever*). Dangerously smart, too. Current Mood: happy |

Spam spam spam spam
What I hate most about spam is that I'm afraid that I may miss something important. I don't even preview any e-mails if I'm not sure who sent them, I just delete them. A good practice in general but I don't doubt that I've lost an e-mail or two from a legitimate sender because I didn't recognize who it was. Bah. Current Mood: annoyed |

Busy day already
It's not even 10AM and I've already mowed the lawn, planted new grass in the back yard, started some laundry, showered, and mostly dressed. I'm waiting for the laundry to get done so I'll have some nice clean pants. That’s right, I typing this pants less. :) Current Mood: accomplished |
